Obituary published in The Friend, 5/3/1884:
Died, on the morning of the 21st ult., at his residence near Barnesville, Ohio, John Thomasson, a member of Somerset Monthly Meeting of Friends, aged 74 years and 4 months. The deceased removed with his parents from near Bolton, England, Lancashire, England, about the years 1823. He was firmly attached to the doctrines and principles held by the Society of Friends, and took great interest in tracing the recorded experiences of the faithful. His call was sudden but not expressed himself in a way that showed that his mind was very much loosened from the things of time, and preparing for those of eternity."
