Minister

OFFICE DETAILS

Name

Minister

Ministers are traditionally those Friends who have a demonstrated gift for ministry during worship and whose life outside of the meeting for worship is an encouragement to others.

After the Civil War, Gurneyite bodies began to make the shift from the traditional recognition of ministers to hiring pastors, who were expected to bring a prepared message to present during the worship.

The following Friends are currently acknowledged as ministers in Ohio Yearly Meeting: Myrtle Bailey, John Benson, Burton Doudna, David Eley, Martha Giffen, Nancy Hawkins, Seth Hinshaw, Conrad Lindes, Sarah Parsons, Jack Smith, Winnie Stratton, Chip Thomas, Terry Wallace, and Bob Wilber.
