The Orthodox Friends constructed a new meeting house on what was then called Dry Street, using the proceeds from the sale of the original Salem Friends property. The road outside was re-named Pershing Street later. After the 1854 division, the Gurneyite and Wilburite sides shared the meeting house, but as was the case earlier between the Hicksites and Orthodox, sharing the meeting house was easier said than done. The Gurneyites bought out the Wilburite interest in the property, after which the Wilburites built their own meeting house (Salem FMH #3) in 1872. The Gurneyites thereafter heavily modified the meeting house. In the twentieth century, the Gurneyites sold the property and built a new meeting house elsewhere in Salem. The Salem FMH #2 was demolished and its sitr is currently a parking lot.
