Ruth W. Steer is somewhat of a mystery. She may have been the daughter of Israel and Martha Wilson (the daughter was born in 1794 at Westland). Israel and Martha moved from Westland to Plainfield in 1810. After Ruth's marriage to James Steer, her membership was never transferred to his meeting as was commonly done. She died c. 1827.
