David Hilles was an early leader of the Ohio Hicksites and served as their first men's Ohio YM Clerk. He was born in Uwchlan MM, son of William and Rebecca Hilles. The family worshipped in the Nantmeal Meeting House, and their farmhouse near the site of the MH survives today. The family moved to Westland MM in 1795. David Hilles married Hannah Dingee in 1811. He was serving as Clerk of the men's Redstone QM at the time of the Hicksite division and played a role in the division at Mount Pleasant in 1828. However, Hilles became disruptive and was disowned by the Hicksites at Westland in 1831. His date of death is given in a document posted at ancestry.com.
