Frederick Maerkt was a leading Friend at Salem in the late 19th century. He and his wife Amelia joined Friends at Salem in 1854, just prior to the Gurney division. His last name was apparently pronounced "mark". The Ohio YM minutes of 1882 state that Maerkt was a recorded minister, but EAQG says he was an Elder.
